🏆 Which One Should You Choose?
1. The T-Casual (The Local Favorite)
The Cost-Saver for Moderate Use.
The T-Casual is often the best option for most tourists:
- Cost-Effective: At €1.26 per ride, it's nearly half the cost of a single ticket.
- Includes Transfers: You can switch between the Metro, Bus, and Tram within a 75-minute window, counting it as only one trip (very valuable for getting around).
- The Downside: It is non-transferable, so each person in your group must buy their own. It does NOT include the special airport metro fare. You would need a separate single Airport Ticket (€5.70) or take the Rodalies R2 train (which is included on the T-Casual if traveling to/from T2).
2. The Hola Barcelona Travel Card (The Convenience Card)
The Best Option for Unlimited, Stress-Free Travel.
- Convenience: Provides peace of mind with unlimited travel. You never have to worry about counting trips or transfers.
- Airport Included: It automatically includes the metro and train journeys to and from the airport, saving you the hassle and cost of buying a separate airport ticket (which is normally €5.70 each way).
- Breakeven Point: You generally need to use public transport 5 or more times per day for the Hola Card to be a better value than the T-Casual. If you're a tourist who walks a lot (e.g., 3-4 rides per day), the T-Casual will likely be cheaper overall.
3. Single Trip Ticket
The Last Resort.
- At €2.65 per trip with no transfers allowed, it is the most expensive and least convenient option. Only buy this if you genuinely only plan to take one or two trips during your entire stay.
💡 Recommendation Based on Your Travel Style
- You are staying 2-3 days and plan to walk: Buy one T-Casual card per person.
- You are staying 4-5 days and plan to travel extensively: Get the Hola Barcelona card for 96 or 120 hours.
- You are arriving/departing from the Airport (Terminal 1 or 2): Use the Hola Barcelona card to cover the expensive metro trip, or use the T-Casual and take the cheaper Rodalies R2 train from the airport to the city center instead of the metro.
- Metro (L): Fast, frequent, and easy to navigate. Lines are color-coded and numbered (L1, L2, L3, etc.).
- Bus: Extensive network, great for routes not covered by the metro, and offers above-ground views (though slower due to traffic).
- Tickets: I highly recommend purchasing a T-Casual (a 10-trip card for one person) or an Hola Barcelona Travel Card (unlimited travel for 48, 72, 96, or 120 hours). This will be much cheaper and more convenient than buying single tickets.
- Ticket Purchase: The Hola Barcelona Travel Card is your best bet for a full day of sightseeing using only public transport. You can buy it at any major Metro station or online.
- Transfers: When using the T-Casual card, you can switch between the Metro, Bus, Tram, and FGC (urban railways) within 75 minutes, and it only counts as one trip.
- TMB App: Download the official TMB app or use Google Maps for real-time directions and route planning. It will be the most accurate for current schedules and transfers.
- Taxis: Taxis are abundant, regulated, and reasonably priced if you are tired of walking or want to save time. They are easy to spot (yellow and black).

El Prat Aeroport: Take "Renfe R2 Nord " train from "Sant Celoni" to "El Clot-Arago" station: Walk 650 m (8 min)
Alternative (Only R2N is not available): Metro L9 Sud Station Terminal 1 & Terminal 2 Ticket Vending Machines are in the station lobby. Arcelon Hotel to Casa Batllo
Metro L1(Red) Towards Hospital de Bellvitge from "Navas" to "Placa de Catalunya", 10 min
Walk from " Placa de Catalunya" to "Casa Batllo", 5-10 min
Details: The closest Metro station to Arcelon Hotel is Navas (L1). Take L1 towards Hospital de Bellvitge and get off at Plaça de Catalunya. From there, you can enjoy a pleasant walk up Passeig de Gràcia to Casa Batlló (and Casa Milà/La Pedrera, which is nearby).
Casa Batlló to Sagrada Familia
Metro L2(Purple) Towards Badalona Pompeu Fabra from "Passeig de Gracia" to "Sagrada Familia", 5 min
Details: Casa Batlló is conveniently located near the Passeig de Gràcia Metro station. Take the L2 line (Purple) directly to the Sagrada Família station, which exits right onto the basilica plaza. This is a very quick and direct trip.
Sagrada Familia to Park Güell
Bus V19 or H10 Towards Barceloneta(V19) or Collblanc(H10), from near Sagrada Familia to Park Guell area, 20-30 min
Details: For Park Güell, the bus is often recommended over the Metro as the Metro stations (Lesseps or Vallcarca on L3) require a significant uphill walk to the main entrance. The Bus V19 or H10 will drop you closer to the park's entrances, often near the escalators for the final climb. Always confirm the nearest stop and best route on a transit app like Google Maps or the TMB app.
Park Güell to Barcelona Cathedral
Metro L3(Green) Towards Zona Universitaria from "Lesseps/Vallcarca" to "Liceu", 15-20 min
Walk from "Liceu" to "Barcelona Cathedral", 5-7 min
Details: After leaving Park Güell, walk downhill to the closest Metro station (Lesseps or Vallcarca on L3). Take the L3 line to the Liceu station (on La Rambla). The Barcelona Cathedral is a short walk through the Gothic Quarter from there.
Alternative: From the Lesseps or Vallcarca area, you could also take a bus (like the V17 if available) towards the city center/coast and get off near Via Laietana, which is also close to the Cathedral.
