Pinotxo Bar

Here are the most recommended dishes at Pinotxo Bar in its new location at Mercat de Sant Antoni.
The menu has remained largely the same as their legendary Boqueria days, focusing on Catalan "fork breakfasts" (esmorzars de forquilla).
1. Cigrons amb Botifarra Negra (Chickpeas with Blood Sausage)
* The Signature Dish. If you only order one thing, make it this. It is a hearty, savory stew of tender chickpeas and rich local blood sausage. It is the dish that made Juanito (the original owner) famous worldwide.
2. Chipirones amb Mongetes (Baby Squid with White Beans)
* Best Seafood & Land Combo. A classic Catalan concept of "Mar i Muntanya" (Sea and Mountain). You get the salty, tender baby squid sautéed with creamy white Santa Pau beans. It is incredibly flavorful and widely considered one of their best plates.
3. Cap i Pota (Veal Head and Leg Stew)
* The Traditional Choice. This is a very traditional Catalan stew similar to Callos (tripe) but made with veal head and leg. It has a rich, gelatinous texture and a slightly spicy, intense sauce. It is a true local delicacy that you won't find in standard tourist restaurants.
4. Xuixo (Cream-filled Pastry)
* The Dessert. You cannot leave without having a Xuixo (pronounced "shoo-shoo"). It is a deep-fried, sugar-coated pastry filled with crema catalana. Pinotxo is famous for serving some of the best in the city, often paired with a café con leche.
5. Fresh Seafood of the Day (Gambas or Navajas)
* The Fresh Catch. Since they are literally inside a market, their simple grilled seafood is unbeatable. Ask for Navajas (Razor Clams) or Gambas (Prawns) grilled with just olive oil, garlic, and parsley.
Tip for Visiting
* Go Early: Even in the new location (Stalls 18-21), it fills up. Since you can move early (6-7 AM), getting there around 8:00 AM (when they open on Tuesdays-Saturdays) is the perfect strategy to grab a stool without the chaos.
